Kings Open First Training Camp

The first training camp for the newly created Kingsville Kings is set for tonight.

Head Coach Gary Astalos expects to have about 36 players at camp.

"I think our goaltending is very strong. We have a lot of good forwards as well. There are still definitely a few defensive spots open for grabs," says Astalos.

Three local players are guaranteed spots on the roster and Astalos plans on cutting down the camp to an active roster of 26 players to begin the season. Players bringing a lot of energy to the ice at camp looks to be what Astalos likes to see.

"We definitely build teams that are run-and-gun. Guys who finish their check, guys who are blue collar. We let them be creative," says Astalos.

The Kings will be playing in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League and are set to open the season in Brantford on September 8.
