Kings Host First Home Opener

The Kingsville Kings take to home ice for the first time in the team's history tonight as part of the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League.

Head Coach Gary Astalos says his team is looking forward to the home opener.

"I think the boys are chomping at the bit," says Astalos. "They're ready to go. Camp has been a grind to say the least."

Astalos feels the team is creating a real buzz in the community.

"We actually let them go out on Saturday. We printed up 100 game posters. They were able to go around town, meet people and shake their hand. I think we even gained some fans by pushing the boys out to the public," says Astalos.

The Kings won their inaugural game in Brantford on Tuesday. The game tonight is set for 8pm against the Toronto Ice Jets to which 200 pre-sale tickets have been sold.

The team is hosting a tailgate beginning at 5pm and is promoting a $10 ticket deal which comes with a free burger, chips and pop.
