Flyers Dominate In Season Opener

The Leamington Flyers have won their first game of the season with an 8-3 victory over the Cambridge Winter Hawks.

On Saturday, the Flyers took a 3-0 lead in the first period and jumped ahead with four more goals in the second to make it 7-2. Both teams scored once in the final frame to end the game with a five goal advantage for the Flyers.

Forward Scott Emerson scored twice for Leamington during the season opener and says it's great to be back on the ice.

"Every game is a big game, so it's nice to get the first one out of the way," he says. "I thought we were good to go right off the start of the puck drop. We got a couple early ones and I thought we looked good out there the whole game."

The Flyers will take on the St. Catharines Falcons on Sunday at 7:30pm.
