Lancers Talking Title Contention

The men's Lancers hockey season kicks off tonight, as they host the defending Queen's Cup champion, Guelph Gryphons.

After putting together a 24-4 record through the regular season last year, UWindsor Head Coach Kevin Hamlin thinks this team's set to challenge for a provincial and national title.

"We've got a lot of veterans who have been through it before, and we're hoping that this recruiting class will develop into fine players by the end of the year," the coach explains.  "There's no reason why we can't compete with the very best."

The Lancers lost in the Queen's Cup final against Guelph a season ago before being bounced from the national tournament in the quarterfinal.

The year previous, Windsor won the provincial title but again came up short in the CIS tournament.
