Jr. Hockey Wrap Up – September 16, 2016

The Leamington Flyers scored a 7-6 overtime victory against the St. Thomas Stars in Junior B hockey on Friday.

The Flyers took a 2-1 advantage in the first period, but an action packed second saw the Stars take a one point lead to make it 6-5 going into the third. Leamington was able to tie things up at 6-6 to force overtime.

The Flyers scored the game winner 2:45 into extra time.

Connor Morrison had two goals for Leamington, while Dallas Maurovic, Liam Hogan, Josh Pope-Ferguson each had one. Cale Phibbs also had two goals, including the winning OT goal.

The Flyers return home on September 22 to take on the London Nationals at 7:10pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
