Spitfires Down Greyhounds 5-2

The Windsor Spitfires scored a 5-2 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Thursday at the WFCU Centre.

The Spitfires took a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals by Aaron Luchuk and then Cristiano DiGiacinto. The Greyhounds fought back to tie things up at 2-2 in the second, but Gabriel Vilardi scored to give the lead back to Windsor going into the third.  Spitfire Logan Brown scored another unanswered goal 53 seconds into the final frame, and Jeremiah Addison scored on an empty net to ensure the win for Windsor.

Windsor also out shot Sault Ste. Marie 32-25. Goaltender Michael DiPietro made 23 saves for the Spitfires, out of the 25 shots on net.

The Spitfires are at home again on Saturday as they host the North Bay Battalion at 7:05pm.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
