Tyler Scott, Matthew Rosati, Dalton Langlois, Eric Shaw and Cody Leeming all scored once for Essex.
Steven Sartor scored the single goal for Lakeshore.
The 73's now lead the best-of-seven series 2-0.
The two teams face off for Game 3 on Sunday at 5pm in Belle River.

A meet the candidates night is planned on Monday, September 21 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Maawn Doosh Gumig Community and Youth Centre.
The series will bring both aspiring and established business owners together on Tuesday evenings at the Maawn Doosh Gumig Community Centre.
Gates for the three-day fair will open at the Wyoming Fair Grounds on Main Street on Friday, September 18, at 5 p.m., with opening ceremonies beginning at 7 p.m.
