Spitfires Take Five In U-18 Draft

Windsor's AAA Midget Hockey team captain is getting a chance to make the Spitfires.

Gianluca Pizzuto was taken by Windsor in the Ontario Hockey League's first ever Under-18 Priority Selection on Wednesday night.

The defenceman stands 5' 7'' and 181 lbs. He scored three times and tallied 19 assists in 35 regular season games, adding another four goals and eight assists in 12 playoff games.

The Spitfires chose four other players in the OHL's priority selection, including Evan Benwell 16th overall from the Mississauga Rebels, Quintin Loon-Stewardson from the Thunder Bay Kings, Patrick O'Leary from the Mississauga Reps and Matthew O'Brien from the Toronto Nationals.

All five will take part in a spring mini-camp later this month.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
