Essex Baseball Team Wins Provincial Championship

The Essex Yellow Jackets Junior Team won the AA Junior Baseball Ontario Championships over the weekend.

The team travelled to Chatham to take on teams from Mississauga, Stratford and Wyoming.

Essex went a perfect 5-0 to win the championship.

"For the team the size of Essex to be playing Mississauga southwest in the finals and some of the teams we played it's a nice accomplishment for this group," says coach Wayne Nevin.

The team is made up of 20 players under the age of 21. Right fields Marcus MacEachran was named the Tournament MVP.

This is the fifth year the team has made it to the tournament finals.
