Jr. hockey wrap-up – March 24, 2019

Leamington Flyers defeat the Komoka Kings 3-0 in Game 7 of the GOJHL playoffs on Sunday night.

Both teams struggled to score in the first period.

That was until Liam Hall scored in the second period for Leamington.

Ryan Gagnier then scored another goal for Leamington putting them in the lead by two in the third period. Leamington's Rory DiNiro scored in an empty net to bring that lead up to three points and winning them the game.

Leamington goaltender Zach Borgiel saved all 31 shots on net.

The Flyers will now take on the London Nationals in the Western Conference Finals.

The Exeter Hawks defeat the Lakeshore Canadiens 2-0 Game 3 of the PJHL playoffs on Sunday night.

Neither team scored in the first period.

Exeter's Liam Melady scored 19:13 into the second period.

Max Bannon scored the second and game winning goal for Exeter at 1:04 into the third period. Canadiens goaltender Erik Morneau saved 21 out of 23 shots on net.

The Canadiens lead the series 2-1.

Game 4 of this series goes Tuesday night in Exeter and Game 5 is Friday night back in Lakeshore.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
