Spitfires top Battalion 6-4

The Windsor Spitfires defeated the North Bay Battalion 6-4 on Saturday.

The Spitfires kicked off the game with a goal from Cole Purboo 8:10 into the period.

The Battalion received four consecutive goals in the second period scored by Luke Moncada, Brad Chenier who scored two goals, and Brandon Coe.

Windsor's Curtis Douglas scored a power-play goal 2:50 into the third period, followed by a goal from Will Cuylle. Curtis Douglas scored 10:46 into the frame, tying up the game. Will Cuylle broke the tie at 16:03.  Jean-Luc Foudy scored with just over a minute left in the period.

Windsor goalie Kari Piiroinen saved 10 out of 11 shots on net. Xavier Media saved 4 out of 7 shots on net.

The Spitfires will face off against the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday. Puck drops at 4:05 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
