Spitfires unable to clinch series at home against Kitchener

The Windsor Spitfires are gonna need at least one more game to eliminate the Kitchener Rangers.

The two teams faced off in Windsor Friday night for Game 5 of the best-of-seven series, with the Rangers winning 5-2.

It took Kitchener less than six minutes in the first period to get on the scoreboard as Jack Pridham found the back of the net. This was the only goal of the period.

Trent Swick and Christian Humphreys added two more goals for Kitchener in the second period before Ilya Protas scored for the Spitfires. His 5th goal was assisted by Noah Morneau and Andrew Robinson.

Kitchener would get one more goal from Luca Romano before the end of the period.

Josef Eichler got Windsor within two goals in the third period, but that was as close as they would get as Swick would add an empty-netter for the Rangers.

The Spitfires now lead the series 3-2.

The two teams will face off in Kitchener for Game 6 on Sunday. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m.
