Producers have until March 31 to apply for the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association's dust deflector program.
As part of the Great Lakes Agricultural Stewardship Initiative, the goal of the program is to reduce the risks to pollinator populations while planting with insecticide treated seed by installing dust deflectors on pneumatic seeding equipment.
75 per cent cost share is available, up to $3,000 on the installation of dust deflectors and is available along the southeast shores of Lake Huron watersheds. It's also available in the Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie areas. Dust deflectors purchased between April 1, 2014 and March 31, 2015 are eligible.
