U-S hog slaughter numbers went from an all-time high to the lowest they've been in over a year to end 2015.
The record high was posted the week before Christmas.
The Christmas week slaughter of 1.7 million head was the lowest since July of 2014.
The University of Missouri's Ron Plain reports last week's national negotiated barrow and gilt price was 47.77 per hundredweight - up 37 cents from the week before.
Plain's weekly hog outlook has the 2015 U-S hog slaughter at 115 point 4 million head.
That's the second highest on record.
2008 was the highest on record.
According to Plain, the 2015 negotiated base price for plant delivered hogs was 66 dollars per hundredweight.
That's down 35 dollars from the 2014 record and the lowest annual average hog price in the U-S since 2009.
