Huron County's Clean Water Project celebrated its tenth anniversary last year.
Ausable Bayfield's Stewardship, Land and Education Manager Kate Monk says Stu Steckle of Zurich completed a number of the program's 18 hundred projects in that time.
One was fencing off a creek and planting trees along the banks.
Monk says once cattle could no longer get into the creek, the banks started to heal themselves and the trees grow faster.
The end result was improved water quality.
Funding for the program comes from the county and is administered through the Ausable Bayfield and Maitland Valley Conservation Authorities.
Monk says Huron County is a leader in the Province in projects that have been funded and completed through the Clean Water Project.
The Project provides up to 50 per cent grant support for projects in categories that include manure storage decommissioning, clean water diversion and livestock fencing.
Funding from the County of Huron can be combined with other cost–share programs and landowner contributions.
