CleanFARMS Collects 137,000 Kilograms Of Products

Last fall's provincial CleanFARMS program was considered a success by organizers.

Ontario farmers brought more than 125,000 kilograms of obsolete and unwanted pesticides to drop off sites.

More than 12,000 kilos of old livestock medicine was also returned to the 40 participating ag-retail locations.

CleanFARMS general manager Barry Friesen says the accomplishment of the collection couldn't be done with the commitment of both retailers and farmers.

He feels his fellow staff are proud to put on the program as it ensures those products can be disposed of in an environmentally responsible way.

CleanFARMS notes 2013 collection pulled in 128,000 kilograms of unused materials.

The next running of the program will be in the fall of 2019.
