Municipality Looking For New Talks

Chatham-Kent Mayor Randy Hope wants to see the two sides in the CCAC labour dispute get back to bargaining sooner rather than later.

The mayor says the municipality isn't looking to take sides in the labour dispute, but is encouraging a speedy resolution so residents aren't negatively impacted.

"The monetary issues, that is between [ONA members] and their employer," says Hope. "The health and well being of the residents of Chatham-Kent, that also now incorporates municipal elected officials because we want to make sure our residents are taken care of."

Hope met with representatives of the Ontario Nurses' Association on Friday after a rally out front of the Chatham-Kent Civic Centre. ONA members walked off the job January 30.
