What once was a quiet library at A.A. Wright Public School in Wallaceburg, is now a hub of activity for students.
Principal Ben Hazzard says the school has transitioned the space into a Learning Commons that introduces new technologies and new ways of learning.
"While there are traditional activities happening in there, the noise level and energy is much higher than a traditional school library setting," says Hazzard, adding they've seen a number of positive changes since they introduced the altered room earlier this school year. "More students are accessing our books and more classes are coming in and using our Learning Commons space than they had previously used the library."
The new Learning Commons includes tables with whiteboard tops for students to make notes and plans. It also features a flat screen TV that can connect to student iPads.
