Immigrants Still Being Welcomed

As more and more Syrian refugees flock to Canada, the Federal and Provincial governments says immigrants are also still welcome into the country.

The Federal government has developed an "Express Entry" program, which streamlines the process for immigrants with specialized skills through a point system.

Victoria Bodnar is with the Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership. She says immigrants and refugees follow different protocols to enter Canada, with immigrants often coming with job skills or employment offers.

"They would go through the pool now in coordination with policies and employers. They'd work together to bring immigrants forward who would be able to fill labour market gaps for the economy."
