For the second year in a row, the Chatham-Kent Salvation Army's Christmas campaign has come up just short of its goal.
This time the organization missed its $450,000 target by just $1,800, but only after extending the campaign until January 15.
Captain Stephanie Watkinson says the shortfall won't have a significant impact on the services they are able to provide.
"Our year-round programs are going to continue as normal and we will do some smaller fundraising campaigns throughout the year," says Watkinson adding it took a team effort for them to raise the final $45,000. "It was a lot of smaller donations that came in over the last few weeks and everybody's small donation added up."
Watkinson says they will likely continue to try to complete their annual fundraising campaigns by the end of December because that's what the Salvation Army does across the country.
