Bantam Cougars Take Home Provincial Championship
The Bantam Chatham-Kent Cougars are well rested now after bringing home a provincial championship title on the weekend.
The Cougars made a late push to beat the Vaughan Rebels 34-20 in the Ontario Football Conference final in Peterborough on Saturday.
Tyler Shumanski stole the show for the Cougars, scoring three touchdowns including an 85-yard punt return TD early in the second half.
The win capped off a perfect season for the Cougars as they finished with an unbeaten 9-0 record.

Former Maroon On Team Canada
A former Chatham Maroon could be going for gold at the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Justin Azevedo, who helped to lead the Chatham Maroons to a Sutherland Cup appearance in 2004, is playing on one of Team Canada's pre-Olympic Games tournament team rosters at the 2017 Sochi Hockey Open in Russia.
In two games for Team Canada, Azevedo has put up one assist and seven penalty minutes.
Maroons Schedule Released
The Chatham Maroons will kick off their season at the GOJHL Showcase Weekend in Brantford on Saturday, September 9 against Kitchener. Their second game will be on September 10 against Caledonia.
The Maroons will then welcome the Kings to Memorial Arena for their home opener in Chatham at 7pm on Sunday, September 17.
The Maroons' next game will be just a few days later in LaSalle -- that game starts at 7pm on September 20 at the Vollmer Complex.
Midget Diamonds Shut Out Tecumseh
The Chatham Midget Diamonds blanked Tecumseh 4-0 on Sunday.
Daniel Bolt and Austin McCready combined for seven shutout innings for the Diamonds in the win.
