CK Family Donates Little Free Library To Hospital

Patients and visitors at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) can now borrow or exchange books while they wait to be seen with the new addition of a Little Free Library.

The custom-made wooden library was donated by the Tompsett family from Chatham-Kent as a thank you to the hospital for birthing their two children.

"We have been looking for a way to say 'thank you' to the nurses, doctors, and everyone who helped my family grow a little bigger. The idea of a Little Free Library just seemed like a great way to do it," says Andrew Tompsett.

CKHA President and CEO Lori Marshall says the Little Free Library will be placed in the hospital's lobby.

"It's in sort of a public space, a place where people may be waiting, people may be anxious, they may not have expected to have been there. To have the opportunity to grab a book, spend some time reading, or bring a book and donate it others, I think is a tremendous thing," she says.

Marshall says the Little Free Library accepts books of all genres.
