CK Councillors: Who's Running Again?

Just one day into the nomination period for the upcoming municipal election, it appears most current Chatham-Kent councillors are planning to run again.

However, there are also a handful of council members who are either undecided or have decided to step away.

Running again: 

Mark Authier, Trevor Thompson, Frank Vercouteren, Steve Pinsonneault, David VanDamme, Carmen McGregor, Michael Bondy, and Douglas Sulman.

Not running: 

Derek Robertson, Jeff Wesley, and Darrin Canniff. Canniff has recently announced he will be running for mayor instead.

Undecided: 

Karen Herman, Bryon Fluker, Joe Faas, and Leon Leclair.

BlackburnNewsCK.com is awaiting comment from Councillors Bob Myers and Brock McGregor.

Nominations for the 2018 Chatham-Kent Municipal Election began on Tuesday and runs until July 27. Chatham-Kent's municipal election will be held on Tuesday, October 22.

As of Monday afternoon, the following candidates have submitted nomination forms for the election:

  • Darrin Canniff will be running as mayor
  • Blenheim resident Henry Svec will be running as a councillor for Ward 2
  • Frank Vercouteren is running for re-election as a councillor for Ward 2
  • Wallaceburg resident Nicolas Cadotte is running as a councillor for Ward 5
  • Chatham resident Alysson Storey is running as mayor
  • Chatham resident Chris June is running as a councillor for Ward 6
