The Foundation of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) still needs some help as it inches closer to its fundraising goal for some new equipment.
The Diagnostic Imaging Equipment Renewal Campaign is still $250,000 short of its $6.9-million goal with just under a week left before the campaign wraps up on May 28.
“The hard work of the Foundation and the community over the last number of years has really paid off,” said Mary Lou Crowley, executive director, Foundation of CKHA. “The people of Chatham-Kent have been incredibly supportive, and with their help we continue to make health care better for everyone who calls this area home.”
Officials with the Foundation of CKHA say the diagnostic imaging equipment they are hoping to purchase can help with the diagnosis of cancer, heart disease, strokes, and broken bones. The new equipment could also help to attract new doctors to the community.
A release from the Foundation of CKHA also points out that there is no government funding for "capital equipment expenditures such as new diagnostic imaging equipment for hospitals." That's why hospital foundations are stepping in to raise money from organizations, individuals, and businesses to buy the equipment.
