The Windsor Championship has its first champion.
American Mark Anguiano completed the fourth and final round in the PGA Canada Mackenzie Tour Sunday at Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor. He took the trophy by shooting a five-under-par 66 in the round, good for an overall score of 24-under-par.
Anguiano, 25, from Bellflower, California, led the tournament after three rounds were completed Saturday. He sank eight birdies on Sunday.
Canadian Michael Giglic and American Joseph Harrison share second place with overall scores of 22-under-par apiece. Two more golfers finished at 21-under-par, George Cunningham of Boulder, Colorado and Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill.
Americans Kyle Mueller and Andrej Bevins tied for the best round of the day Sunday, each shooting an eight-under-par 63.
A field of 156 players took part in the tournament. Countries represented were Canada, the U.S., Argentina, France, Sweden, Australia, China, Germany and England.
Over $110,000 was raised for the tournament's charity for this year, The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.
