Tristan Lewis turned away all 29 goals he faced Saturday night for the Chatham Maroons.
His teammates supported him with four goals in their 4-0 win over the Kings in Komoka. The Maroons pull into a tie with the Kings for fourth place in the GOJHL Western Conference with 12 points apiece.
Lewis said he had a slow, methodical approach to keeping the puck out of his net.
"It was basically just taking it minute by minute and not allowing it to bounce back in," said Lewis. "It was one shift, one period, one game, day by day."
The first period was scoreless, with Chatham outshooting Komoka 13-11 in the frame. The Maroons went 0-for-4 on the power play in the period.
Chatham broke the stalemate at 7:11 of the second period, when Matt Murray scored a power play goal. Dakota Bohn added an unassisted goal later in the stanza to extend the Maroons' lead to 2-0 after 40 minutes of play. Lewis said he knew the they had the game at hand at that point.
"I think we just kept buying into our systems there," said Lewis. "We listened to what the coach told us and we basically outplayed them. We were just the better team and we knew it in the second."
The Maroons added two additional goals in the third period. Dane Johnstone scored late in the frame and Sean O'Brien scored a short-handed empty-net goal to seal it for Chatham.
Owen Say faced 30 shots in net for Komoka and stopped 27 of them.
Chatham is back in action Sunday night, hosting the LaSalle Vipers at Memorial Arena. Komoka hosts the Vipers next Saturday night.
