Curtis Douglas and Jordan Frasca each scored two as the Windsor Spitfires beat the Attack 6-1 in Owen Sound Sunday afternoon.
Windsor stops a four-game losing streak, and sits in fourth place in the OHL West Division with 13 points. The Attack remain in first place in the Midwest Division with 17 points.
Frasca's first goal of the game, his third of the season, put Windsor on the scoreboard first at 12:11 of the first period. Owen Sound soon after went on the power play and capitalized with Markus Phillips tying the game at one apiece. Chris Playfair put the Spits back in the lead at 15:51 and Windsor held a 2-1 lead at the first intermission.
The Spitfires' offence, dormant over the past few games, woke up in the second period with back-to-back goals. Mathew MacDougall scored in his second straight game to extend the Windsor lead to 3-1, then Douglas scored his first of the contest on the power play.
Douglas struck again at 12:02 of the final period, then Frasca iced it with his second of the game.
Michael DiPietro finally got the offensive support he needed in goal for Windsor, and had 33 saves. Andrew MacLean stopped 28 shots in net for Owen Sound. Each team had 34 shots on goal in the game.
Windsor returns home from its northern Ontario sojourn Thursday night to host the Ottawa 67s. The Attack travel to Oshawa Friday night.
