The Maroons are looking for payback in Kamoka Saturday night after losing at home to the Kings Thursday.
Chatham surprisingly dropped the first game of the series at home 2-1 in what was a much closer than expected game. The Maroons slightly outshot Kamoka 39-36 but couldn't find an answer to Kings netminder Nathan Young. Chatham will have to improve on their special teams tonight. They went 0-4 on the powerplay and allowed Kamoka to go 1-2.
Chatham fans can look to the standings for reassurance they don't have to panic just yet. They finished third in the division, 19 points ahead of sixth place Kamoka who also had a losing record. Add to that the fact Kamoka only beat the Maroons once in six meetings during the regular season this loss feels more like an anomaly.
It just shows anything can happen in the GOJHL as an even bigger upset happened Thursday night. First place Leamington not only lost to eighth-seeded Strathroy but were shutout 1-0.
While it might not be a must win for the Maroons they have to come out swinging to try and tie up the series for game three at home Sunday. Puck drop Saturday night will be at 7:15 p.m. at the Kamoka Wellness Centre.
