Hundreds of cars stopped in RIDE program
Long weekend RIDE programs across CK have resulted in a handful of infractions.
Sunday night, Chatham-Kent police conducted several spot checks across the municipality.
Around 400 vehicles were stopped. One driver's license was suspected for three days, one person was charged with an offense under the Liquor Licence Act and one person charged under the Cannabis Act.
Man Charged with being Intoxicated in a Public Place
A man has been charged with being intoxicated in public after a disturbance call in Chatham.
According to police, it happened around 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning. They were dispatched to the area of Queen Street for the call.
When they arrived, they saw a 64-year-old Chatham man yelling obscenities. Because of his high level of intoxication, officers believed he was unable to care for himself and took him into custody for his own safety.
He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and released once sober.
