Chatham-Kent police are still investigating a serious crash on Queens Line between Chatham and Tilbury that sent six people to the hospital.
Chatham-Kent police issued a notice shortly after 9 p.m. Monday saying that the intersection of Queens Line and Merlin Road was shut down after the collision.
Police issued an update early Tuesday morning, noting that two vehicles were involved in the collision, which took place at 8:55 p.m. Monday.
Investigators said one of the vehicles, with six people inside, was heading west on Queens Line and was turning south onto Merlin Line when it was hit by a second vehicle, with one person inside, that was heading east on Queens Line.
Police said the collision sent one of the vehicles involved into a ditch on the southeast corner of the intersection while the other vehicle stayed on the road.
Paramedics took six people to the hospital for medical attention.
One of the patients was airlifted to a London hospital while two others were taken to area hospitals by land -- one to a London hospital and one to a Windsor hospital.
An earlier report from Chatham-Kent police indicated that two of the patients were in critical condition after the collision.
