The 20th annual Holiday Jam for Hunger was a huge success, raising over $4,000.
The concert at Sons of Kent Brewing on December 28, 2024, saw 17 local musicians in three bands take the stage to help set a new fundraising record for the event.
All of the money will benefit two local organizations that provide community food support, Chatham Outreach for Hunger and Hope House - Mental Health Network of Chatham-Kent.
"I could not be happier with the results," said musician and organizer Alysson Storey. "When 1 in 5 families are facing serious food insecurity in Chatham-Kent, to see the community come out so strongly to support our efforts to help, it means a lot. And to raise the most money yet, in just a few short hours, is incredibly heartwarming. And this will help a lot of people."
Local bands 40 Hours Over, the Dave Trinca Xperience, and the Soul Remedy Orchestra donated their time to perform, Tony's One Top Music Shop in Chatham provided the sound and technical support, while Sons of Kent Brewing and an anonymous donor sponsored the event.
Holiday Jam for Hunger started in 2004, and since fundraising was included, nearly $40,000 in total has been raised for local organizations.
