SheLeads back for third year

A conference for women-identifying people in Chatham-Kent is coming back to the Chatham Capitol Theatre next month.

SheLeads is a full-day event taking place on Saturday, July 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"We have speakers, workshops, a lunch provided, swag bags, raffle prizes," said co-founder Dr. Erin TeWinkel. "Really, it's a day for education, inspiration, feeling empowered, and just really looking for that community aspect that we're usually all seeking."

The event starts with a guest speaker and a panel before breaking off into smaller workshops.

"You'll select your workshops when you go get your ticket, which is online at www.sheleadsck.com," said TeWinkel. "The information, all the workshops are there. You can read through them, and then you go to select which one for each time slot. There's 17 in total, you only get a pick three, that's the negative, is that you can't attend all of them."

The workshops will cover a lot of different topics so there is something for everyone.

"It's not just business, it's not just health, it's not just parenting or being a mom, we kind of blend all of it. There's some just like art things that are more fun, like we have a cake decorating workshop. Then we have more business stuff, like learning about email marketing, and we have more wellness-based ones," said TeWinkel.

TeWinkel added that the cost is "pay what you can."

"We've worked really hard with amazing sponsors like Mainstreet Credit Union, Waste Connections, Tech Trailers and other small businesses in our community who help us maintain a pay-if-you-can scenario. Suggested is $20, but also if zero is what you need, then we want you to come anyways, and we don't want the ticket cost to be a barrier to anyone," said TeWinkel.
