Repairs complete at LO Stonehouse Bridge in Wallaceburg

The LO Stonehouse Bridge in Wallaceburg has reopened.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent announced on Thursday it has resolved an operational issue with the bridge's lift mechanism preventing the passage of larger boats.

The repairs are complete and larger boats can once again get through, said municipal officials, adding that all movable bridges in Wallaceburg are currently operational for the navigation season.

"The Municipality of Chatham-Kent thanks the public and boating traffic for their patience during this process," said the municipality.

The LO Stonehouse Bridge is one of the main pedestrian crossings over the Sydenham River in Wallaceburg.

It was built in 1910 and was then converted to a pedestrian bridge in 1983.
