New family doctor in Chatham

A new family doctor has been officially welcomed at the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres (CKCHC) in Chatham.

The CKCHC said Dr. Andrew Lanz-O’Brien will start Friday as a part-time physician at its Chatham site.

Dr. Lanz-O’Brien went to Blenheim District High School and studied medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine at Western University.

Lanz-O’Brien completed his residency training in Chatham at the Thamesview Family Health Team for year one and at the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team in Blenheim for year two.

In August 2020, Dr. Lanz-O’Brien joined the Chatham-Kent Family Health Team in Blenheim as a full-time physician and will maintain his existing medical practice in Blenheim, along with joining the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres part-time, according to CKCHC.

“I have always loved delivering high-quality outpatient generalist healthcare. I am joining the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres because I believe that their vision of holistic care aligns well with mine, and I feel that we can accomplish a lot of good and help many people together!” said Dr. Lanz-O’Brien.

Sherri Saunders, CKCHC Executive Director, said they are honoured that Dr. Lanz-O’Brien chose the Chatham site to further expand his primary care practice.

"Dr. Andrew Lanz-O’Brien brings extraordinary talent to CKCHC, which is a great compliment to the remarkable team we already have in place. We want to thank Dr. Lanz-O’Brien for choosing to join CHC and enabling us to further expand access to primary care and assist in improving the health and well-being of the community,” said Saunders.

Dr. Lanz-O’Brien will be accepting new patients registered with the Health Care Connect wait list.
