Middlesex OPP Detachment Gets New Commander

Inspector Terry Hamilton is no longer the "interim" commander of the Middlesex OPP detachment.

Chief Superintendent John Cain, OPP West Region Commander, announced Thursday that Hamilton has been selected as the next commander of the Middlesex OPP. He was named interim commander in December of last year.

"After a thorough evaluation process by OPP Command and the support of civilian governance partners, Inspector Hamilton was selected as the permanent detachment commander effective May 14, 2018," the OPP said in a release issued Thursday.

Hamilton has been with the OPP since 1994, after beginning his law enforcement career with the Canadian Border Services Agency. He was a front-line constable at the Lucan OPP Detachment for six years before a promotion to sergeant saw him transfer to the London Provincial Communication Centre. He also worked in the Huron County Detachment.

"It is a dream come true for me to return to Middlesex Detachment as Commander," said Hamilton. "Having served here as a Constable from 2000-2006, I am honoured to again have the opportunity to serve our community and lead a team of officers who are wholeheartedly committed to the safety and security of its residents."

According to Thursday's release from the OPP, Hamilton also co-chairs the West Region Diversity and Inclusion Council and is the Regional Liaison Officer for the Critical Incident Stress Response Team, which supports OPP officers who have been involved in traumatic incidents.
