A 26-year-old Brussels man is facing stunt driving charges after provincial police in Oxford County clocked a motorcycle doing nearly double the 100 km/h speed limit on Hwy. 401.
Police, with the help of the OPP aviation unit, were looking for speeders in the westbound lanes of the highway near Ingersoll around 2:50pm last Thursday when they spotted the bike. The motorcycle's speed registered as being more than 190 km/h, according to OPP.
The motorcycle was stopped on Ingersoll St. S shortly after. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Brussels is charged with racing a motor vehicle and failing to have insurance. His driver's licence has also been suspended and motorcycle impounded for seven days.
Police are using the incident as a reminder to other motorists that stunt driving is a serious and reckless form of aggressive driving, which puts everyone on the road at serious risk of injury or death.
