London police are turning to the public for help identifying a suspect after a man was mugged at knifepoint.
The 36-year-old man was walking along Dundas Street, east of Wellington Street around 2 a.m. on Wednesday when another man asked him if he had any spare change. When the 36-year-old approached the man to give him some loose change, the man pulled a knife and demanded he empty his pockets.
After getting cash and personal property from the 36-year-old, the suspect took off from the area. No one was physically hurt during the robbery.
“The victimization, in this case, is upsetting," Det. Sgt. Ryan Scrivens said in a statement. "In this instance, the passerby is simply showing a sign of good faith in providing what change he had remaining in his pockets, when he is threatened by the suspect who arms himself with a knife.”
Police are now looking for a man described as Caucasian, between 20-30 years old, approximately 5’10” tall, 180 lbs, with a slim build, black and grey hair, and a full beard. He was wearing a black puffy jacket, dark blue jeans, and a black toque.
