Londoner charged in Toronto drive-by shooting

A London teen is among three people charged after a drive-by shooting in Toronto left six people injured.

Toronto police say the three were arrested this week and charged in connection with the September 2 incident. According to the Toronto Police Service, officers were called to a bakery in the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue around 2 a.m. after a vehicle drove past and shots were fired toward the bakery. Six people suffered gunshot wounds, although none suffered life-threatening injuries.

After a lengthy investigation, police arrested a 16-year-old from Toronto and a 16-year-old from Brampton, as well as 18-year-old Illia Ayo of London. Ayo is charged with six counts of aggravated assault, and one count each of reckless discharge of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a loaded firearm, careless storage of a firearm, and possession of property obtained by crime.

The two 16-year-olds, who can't be named because of their ages, face the same charges.

Ayo is also facing charges in connection with a traffic stop in Milton last month. According to Halton Regional Police, it's alleged he was in a vehicle that was pulled over on the James Snow Parkway on October 6. Police seized a firearm from the vehicle and charged Ayo with firearm offences, breaching a release order, and possession of Fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.
