Construction is shutting down another London road for several months.
Starting Monday, Quebec Street between Oxford Street and the CP rail line north of Elias Street will be closed to replace aging infrastructure, add new cycling options, and enhance streetscape features. Dubbed the Quebec Street Infrastructure Renewal Project, the city has said it is necessary to prepare the area for future growth.
The bulk of the work isn't expected to be completed until the end of October, with a few finishing touches to be made in the spring of 2024.
Detours are in place for drivers and cyclists. Salisbury Street between Quebec and Glasgow streets will allow two-way traffic during the construction to support local access.
Pedestrians will still be able to use the Quebec Street overpass and an area on Quebec in front of East Carling Public School and the YMCA daycare.
London Transit is detouring bus route 20 around the construction. Up-to-date bus service information can be found on the LTC website.
Access to residences and businesses in the area will be maintained during the work, the city said.
