'Negligent' gun fire at police college leaves instructor charged

Charges have been laid against an instructor at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer.

According to Elgin OPP, officers were called to the college about a negligent discharge of a firearm during a training scenario last Friday.

No one was hurt.

A 56-year-old instructor with more than 30 years experience in policing is charged with careless use of a firearm. She is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charge on November 14.

OPP, along with the Chief Firearms Office for Ontario, continue to investigate the incident, police said.
