One man arrested, second sought in armed home invasion

Police seized a sawed-off shotgun and a knife following a violent home invasion in Old East Village.

Two men, one toting a rifle and the other wielding a knife, went to the home of an acquaintance on Dundas Street, east of Lyle Street and forced their way inside on Sunday. The men demanded money before one assaulted the resident. The pair then took off.

The resident suffered minor injuries in the ordeal, but did not require medical attention, London police said.

Officers investigating the incident seized a .22 calibre sawed-off rifle and knife from a home on Dundas Street.

A 36-year-old London man was arrested. He is charged with 17 offences including forcible entry, pointing a firearm, armed robbery, using a firearm during the commission of an indictable offence, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence, breach of probation, and eight counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

He remains in police custody.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Johnny M. Grebenchan, 32, of London. He is charged by way of warrant with armed robbery, forcible entry, break and enter and theft, using a firearm during the commission of an indictable offence, careless storage of a weapon, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence, and three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.
