Both Sides Urged to End CCAC Strike

The Minister of Health is urging both sides in the labour dispute between nurses and Community Care Access Centres to resume negotiations.

In a statement, Dr. Eric Hoskins is asking the two sides to agree to interest arbitration to resolve the current impasse in contract talks.

About 3,000 nurses, inlcuding 300 who work in the South West CCAC which covers Bruce, Grey, Huron and Perth walked off the job 15 days ago.

Both sides met with a Ministry of Labour mediator for 12 hours yesterday, but the talks were suspended without resolution.

The nurses says the main issue in the dispute is wages.
