The Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation hosted the first of three workshop scheduled for shoreline communities to discuss issues that concerns residents of those communities. Tuesday night's meeting was in Bayfield.
Executive Director Matt Hoy says the purpose of the workshops is to sit down with the people who live along the shoreline from Sarnia to Tobermory and address some of the issues that concern them.
Hoy says they're not new problems, but things like septic tanks, invasive species, and bluff management were discussed.
Hoy says no one deliberately sets out to damage the shoreline but people don't always understand the consequences of their actions so the key to the success of the workshops is education.
Hoy says future workshops will have more scientific speakers to address more specific concerns.
Future workshops are scheduled for the Clearwater Arena in Sarnia on February 23 and the Sauble Beach Community Centre on February 28. Both meetings start at 7pm.
