Goderich Celtic Roots Festival Set For The Weekend

The Goderich Celtic Roots Festival launches its 26th season on Friday at the Lion's Harbour Park on West St.

General Manager Cheryl Prashker says their biggest headliner is Heather Rankin, from the Rankin Family. This will be her first appearance at the Celtic Festival and she'll only be performing on Saturday.

Prashker says another Canadian favourite is a group of young women called The Good Livelies and old favourites Cassie and Maggie will be there all weekend.

Prashker says the festival is now in the enviable position of having Celtic musicians from around the world calling them and asking if they can perform,  and the ones that have such a good time ask to come back.

She says part of that is the fact that they're billeted with host families so they get a feel for the community and often become friends with their hosts.

The Celtic Festival opens Friday at noon and runs until Sunday evening around 9:30pm. A complete list of performers and their schedules can be found on the Celtic Roots Festival website.
