Following a 3 year hiatus due to COVID-19, the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run returned to Huron County.
On September 8th, the OPP run in support of local Special Olympics athletes lit the torch early in the morning in Wingham and it burned strong through the communities of Clinton, Blyth and Goderich. Once the athletes completed the run, they were treated to a celebration BBQ hosted at McGee Motors in Goderich. About 50 local Special Olympians, coaches and supporters participated in the largest public awareness and fundraising event for Special Olympics. This year's LETR marks 35 years raising awareness and funds for athletes with an intellectual disability. Over $72 million has been raised in Canada since its inception.
