Hanover police arrested three people and uncovered over $52,000 worth of suspected illicit drugs on Wednesday evening.
Officers responded to a complaint about suspicious activity in a parking lot at 10th Street and 17th Avenue.
A wanted female was connected to one of the vehicles at the scene, and two men were associated with a second vehicle. One of the men was wearing an ankle device.
Hanover police received assistance from West Grey police and the OPP in securing the scene.
Following a search of the vehicles, the woman was found in possession of carelessly stored ammunition, and driver's licences that did not belong to her.
The two men in the other vehicle were found in possession of cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, magic mushrooms, GHB (the so-called "date rape" drug), and dried cannabis. Canadian currency, a loaded BB gun, suspected counterfeit cash, and other items were also found.
The 34-year-old woman from Hanover is charged with theft under $5,000, careless storage of ammunition, two counts of failure to comply with an order, and two counts of possessing identity documents without the owner's consent.
A 30-year-old West Grey man, and a 32-year-old with no fixed address, are both charged with possession of drugs with intent to sell, possession of stolen property, and possession of a firearm contrary to an order. The latter suspect is also charged with four counts of breach of probation.
The charges have not been proven in court.
All three suspects were held pending a bail hearing.
"This incident is another great example of members of the community working together with the police to make our community safer and more secure for everyone," said Hanover Police Chief Christopher Knoll. "As a result of keen observations by our citizens with a timely call to our officers, coupled with a dynamic police response, lethal and dangerous drugs were removed from our streets."
