OLG sends quarterly payments to Central Huron, Hanover

Two municipalities in midwestern Ontario are getting their quarterly payments for hosting casinos.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) announced on Friday that payments of $179,855 to the Municipality of Central Huron for hosting Gateway Casinos Clinton and $313,715 to the Town of Hanover for hosting Playtime Casino Hanover. The payments cover the third quarter (October 1 – December 31) of the fiscal year.

So far this fiscal year (April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025), Central Huron has received $533,672, while Hanover has received $1,011,096.

Since the casino in Clinton opened in August of 2000, it has generated just over $14-million dollars for Central Huron, while the casino in Hanover has resulted in $23,759,479 in payments since it opened in February of 2001.

“OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement payments help pave the way for the Municipality of Central Huron to build critical infrastructure and fund important programs that make a real difference for residents of Clinton and the surrounding area,” Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson said in a statement released by OLG. “Gateway Casinos Clinton supports numerous jobs and generates a great deal of economic activity that, in turn, improves the well-being of our local community.”

According to OLG, payments to host communities are "based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site."
