Motorists can expect to see RIDE programs over the holiday season

OPP officers with the Huron County and South Bruce detachments joined volunteers from the Huron-Bruce Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) chapter to roll out their annual holiday season Project Red Ribbon Campaign.

OPP conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in Lucknow Wednesday to create awareness and detect potential impaired drivers.

Officers checked about 100 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint, and reported everyone was found to be complying and driving in a sober condition.

"Drivers should expect to see enhanced patrols and RIDE checks during the festive season," warned Sergeant Russ Nesbitt from Huron County OPP. "Driving sober is always the right choice. If you choose to drink or use drugs, call a taxi, phone a friend, stay the night or have some other plan to get home safely. Please do the right thing and only drive if you are sober."

Huron-Bruce MADD recently celebrated its 30th anniversary as a chapter dedicated to its mission to stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime.
