Bruce Power officials part of delegation to Washington

Ontario energy leaders are taking part in a high-level visit to Washington this week, with a strong emphasis on the role of nuclear power and the contributions of Bruce Power in shaping North America’s energy future.

The delegation, coordinated by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, will include members of the Green Ribbon Panel alongside representatives from key sectors such as electricity, manufacturing, agriculture, forestry and life sciences. Their goal is to deepen collaboration between Canada and the United States at a time when cross-border energy cooperation is becoming increasingly important.

With the 2026 review of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement on the horizon, the group will focus on strengthening partnerships that support energy security, economic resilience and shared prosperity across the continent.

“Ontario and Canada are at a pivotal moment for our energy and economic future," said Green Ribbon Panel Chair James Scongack. "Participating in this delegation is an important opportunity to contribute to conversations with our American partners and to emphasize the value of collaboration in building a more secure, resilient and competitive North American energy system.”

Nuclear energy is expected to be a central theme in those discussions, with Ontario positioning itself as a leader in reliable, low-carbon electricity generation. Bruce Power, as one of the largest nuclear operators in the world, is seen as a cornerstone of that strategy, providing expertise that can help meet growing energy demands while supporting climate goals.

The visit also aligns with the province’s “Building Fortress Am-Can” strategy, which calls for a renewed Canada–U.S. partnership focused on long-term stability, security and economic growth. A major component of that plan is achieving energy security through expanded infrastructure and increased cooperation.

Ontario’s ambitions to grow its nuclear fleet and strengthen its supply chain are expected to create economic opportunities on both sides of the border. Leaders said this positions the province, and companies like Bruce Power, to play a major role in powering North America’s future.

The Green Ribbon Panel is encouraged by the progress made over the past year and remains committed to promoting collaborative solutions that enhance Canada’s position as a global energy leader.
