Hanover Fire Department celebrates productive 2025

The Hanover Fire Department is highlighting a busy and productive year in 2025, which included a brand new station.

Hanover's new net-zero fire station was officially opened on May 10 and features four drive through apparatus bays, training area, honour hall, hose tower, gear room, and fire staff offices. Net zero means the facility will produce as much energy as it uses.

Additionally, the fire department was extremely busy with emergency responses and community events. There were 244 emergency calls responded to in 2025, along with nine fire incidents in Hanover that caused nearly $30,000 in total damages.

There were also over 11,000 hours of training completed, including expanded capabilities in technical rescues, including fire and ice rescues.

Finally, the Hanover Fire Department held 56 public education events reaching approximately 5,600 residents with over 300 staff hours dedicated to outreach. The Alarmed for Life program was also completed, with a 44 per cent compliance rate for working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

"Our focus remains on delivering reliable emergency services while strengthening safety, preparedness, and sustainability," said Fire Chief Jeff Dentinger. "The accomplishments of 2025 reflect the dedication of our members and the strong support of council and the community."

In 2026, priorities include implementing formal medical oversight programs, acquiring a new rescue and pumper truck, expanding rescue capabilities and a third-party review of swift-water rescue training and operations.
